Since 2017, we’ve been known by our community as ‘Home Cleaning Made Easy.’ As of June 15, we’ve shifted to the ‘The Conscious Cleaning Platform.’
Here’s a quick breakdown of why and how this revamp is being implemented.
Why the Change?
When Lime Maids was first founded in 2017, we had a clear vision in mind: make home cleaning in the Burlington area easier.
Until we opened up our doors, booking a house cleaning in Chittenden County was no simple task. Between waiting for a quote, dealing with rescheduling, and paying by cash or check, we knew things could be easier.
Accomplishing this goal was made possible through a few locally unique solutions:
- Flat-rate, transparent, and easy to access pricing
- An easy-to-use online booking solution with credit card payments integrated
- A rock-solid satisfaction guarantee
If the observations behind these ideas hadn’t been enough proof of concept, launching was. After opening for business, we quickly became one of the top-rated cleaning services in the area.
Nonetheless, three years down-the-line, we discovered that our original goal wasn’t big enough. If we truly wanted to help the community around us, we would need to help the planet around us, too.
Right as this realization came, so did the COVID-19 Pandemic. Suddenly, Lime Maids had to close down for two months. Rather than letting this hurt business, however, we took advantage of the newfound time to launch Lime Maids 2.0.
What’s the Difference?
Aside from our rockin’ new website, colors, and logo, we’ve also noted five key components driving Lime Maids 2.0’s impact:
1. Opt-out Green Cleaning
Historically, we’ve offered green cleaning as a $10 extra charge. Though green cleaning products can be more expensive, we didn’t want to charge our clients for helping the planet.
Today, all of our cleanings are opt-out green. Unless you explicitly ask for non-green products to be used in your cleaning, we’ll assume you’d like a green cleaning. This allows us to promote green choices, while still empowering our clients to make their own decisions.
So far, we’re happy to report that 100% of Lime Maids 2.0’s bookings have been for green cleanings.
2. 1% for the Planet Partnership (Launching July 1)
On July 1st, we’ll be partnering with another Burlington born organization: 1% for the Planet. With this partnership under our belt, we’re promising to give 1% of our sales towards saving the planet.
In essence, 1% of every home cleaning booked with us will be donated to an environmental non-profit of our choice. We couldn’t be more excited.
3. ‘Ethics-first’ Approach
Previously, we’ve found that not placing ethics at the forefront has left too much room for inadequate decision making. Thus, our new ‘ethics-first’ approach was born.
With our re-launch, we’re making it a point to be explicitly ethics-first. Not only will every decision we make have to pass the ‘ethics test’ first, so will everyone we work with.
4. Community Involvement
Especially in these times, we understand how crucial it is to connect with our community. Aside from helping our clients and cleaners, we’re beginning to actively work with other small, Vermont businesses.
One piece connected to this will be launching our local business directory. Here, we plan to offer mutually beneficial community discounts in hopes of developing a positive chain of local business support.
Past this, we’re also beginning to engage much more via local giveaways, shoutouts, and collaborations. Something you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for.
5. Lifestyle Leadership
Sustainability, ethics, and community building are lifestyle decisions. To inspire change, we’ll be launching regular content pieces and resources on reducing your footprint.
This will all be accomplished through our ‘Sustainable Sunday’ newsletter, our bi-weekly lifestyle blog, our new Facebook group ‘Conscious Home Community’, and much more.
Overall, our goal with this content is to both educate and entertain our audience while creating a positive impact.
Back to you.
